must be. in the score- the durations are proportional and not specified out side of their relative "length" to each other. on the time scale of this "performance" i'm sure there was a lot of leeway in choosing which exact date and hour a change was taking place without really affecting the overall dimensions of the score.

but i've not heard the story of how it was decided to play ASLSP on this time scale. i would suspect chance processes had something to do with it ...

and if this "performance" is to complete it will mostly rely upon people who have not been born yet (and even upon those whose (great, (great, (...))) grandparents have not been born yet).
