Yesterday’ ASAP event made me wonder if the scheduling and tempo-setting for this performance was arrived at with some attention paid to getting some events to happen on Cage’s birthday and/or anniversary of his death.

Does anyone know whether there was any consideration of such planning?

When you look at the list of changes,
it is kind of surprising how often they
do so on his birthday. Maybe it was somehow
mathematically decided that way?
Exactly 10 years from his birthday yesterday
will be another change.

Thanks, Rod.

The change did not make the headlines, but thankfully, it didn't pass unreported.

Also, I forgot to mention that a chord change for the
Halberstadt version of "Organ²/ASLSP (As Slow as Possible)”
happened on his birthday yesterday.
This was the first note change since 2013!

Listening to one version of the birthday boy’s “108” today.
I’d been looking forward to seeing a live version of this
being performed on this date for over a decade,
but, alas, we have to either listen to a recorded version,
or create our own version (using 108 speakers arranged
around the house?) or just conceptualize the whole thing
in our mind’s eye. Let’s hope that we can enjoy a live
performance of 109a and/or 109b next year.

stay safe and don’t let your emotions overrule reasoning!
