Since the interviews were from 1990 and 1991-92, I doubt the 1986 premiere is the one you have in mind. But you're right about the pianist. He was playing Satie in a very demonstrative manner, like Liszt ("The piano was in danger!" Cage drily remarked).

I can’t find these in the book. Did I dream it ? The percussion piece is not mentioned in the index, and I couldn't find it within the pages.
