Assistant Director of Counseling Services
 
St. Mary's College of Maryland (SMCM) at Historic St. Mary's City is 
accepting resumes for the position of Assistant Director of Counseling 
Services.  Responsibilities include providing individual/group counseling and 
crisis interventions to students, training to Residence Life staff, and 
consultation to various members of the SMCM community; participating in the 
development and implementation of programs, workshops, and outreach 
presentations.  Occasional evening or weekend work is required. 
 
Minimum Qualifications:  Masters degree in counseling, psychology, student 
personnel, or related field with 3 years of post-licensure college counseling 
center experience; a commitment to a developmental philosophy and a brief 
therapy model; experience working with college-aged population; and excellent 
communication skills. 
 
Preferred Qualifications:  Doctorate in Counseling or Clinical Psychology, 
licensed or license-eligible in Maryland, with at least one year post degree 
work experience in a counseling center; experience in working with gender 
issues, eating disorders, and sexual assault/trauma recovery in a college 
setting; and experience in one or more of the following areas: personality 
disorders, substance abuse, and persistent mental illness.  Computer 
literacy, including experience with electronic scheduling and filing.  
Enthusiasm for programming and workshop presentations is a definite plus.
