Hi Rod,
No guarantees, of course, but American U is in one of the safest parts of DC. The walk between there and the Tenleytown Metro stop should be pretty low-risk, even at night.

Hallo! Thanks to everyone on and off the list who contacted me about this.Actually, I just did just this with Google maps almost immediatelyafter asking. I was just hoping that someone else had already donethe work and maybe some time could've been saved.Yes, it looks like nearly every program can be reached by the Metro.I was surprised to find out that there is no Metro stop at Georgetown U,but I soon found a short article as to why this was the case. The American University location is a bit far northwest, but a Metro stop isonly about a mile away. I don't know if this region of DC is safe at night, but all of those details can be attended to later if I really end up going. It depends on whether I'll be in the US or not.I hope it's a success! Every idea that I had concerning some well-knownEuropean festival Cage celebration never panned out - even tho these ideaswere presented to some organizers and the Cage estate itself, there were neverany replies. For 10 years, I was thinking that *surely* Documenta 13 would havea grand Cage party/exhibition - it would've been perfect for a highly regarded artevent that happens every 5 years - one that would just happen to fall on the year 2012,but I couldn't get any replies to this idea. Apparently they haven't planned anythat I can tell from their schedule. I may be able to research this in person, but it looks rather grim.Anyway, we have our own right here in the US.Maybe I can document as much as possible and, afterward, upload to my website for those who couldn't attend - we'll see...thanks again to all who wrote!RodOn Jul 22, 2012, at 8:40 PM, David O'Dette wrote:Rod,Google Maps will show you where all these places are. You'll find that the Library of Congress, the National Gallery, and the Freer Gallery are within reasonable walking distance of each other as well as being within a block or so of Metro stops. The Phillips Collection is not reasonably walkable from these three (25-30 blocks) but is near the Dupont Circle Metro stop. The Katzen Arts Center is far from all of the above but is walkable (about 6 blocks) from the Tenleytown Metro stop. The Kreeger Museum and the French Embassy are a possible but fairly long walk from each other and are neither walkable from any of the other sites (except maybe Katzen if you're energetic) nor near any Metro stop. Your best bet for those sites may be a taxi; I don't know about the bus lines and schedules. You'll get a sense of all this when you see it on Google Maps (where the Metro stops are identified by blue squares containing an "M").I hope this helps!David O'DetteWashington, DCOn Sun, Jul 22, 2012 at 12:40 PM, Rod Stasick <> wrote:
Hallo Anaximeanderers,Before I consider plotting out a possible weeklong stay in DCfor the Cage Fest, is there, by chance (ahem...), already a mapof the district showing where each of the events are being held?It would be nice to see such a thing before drawing lines andschedules starting at the Kreeger Theater up to the National Gallery.the zig zag wanderer,®ø∂---Now playing: Ivor Cutler - Butterfly
