Ha, ha!!  I agree with Julian, although I never thought about it in that way.  Wonderful observation!!  I love getting Silence e-mails, even though some are more relevant to me than others.  I especially like the details and remembrances of how John viewed certain pieces, particularly the ones that I am LESS familiar with!  Thank you all for sharing your wit & wisdom, and for keeping his memories alive.  Keep the e-mails coming!!!!!

Agreed.

I also very much like the long pauses and then sudden sporadic episodes (all very Cagean:).

+1 for mailing list rather than a forum.  These sudden bursts of activity where I'm learning and interested in stuff I didn't know about, is most often a welcome distraction and often leads to fresh insights and stimulus for my own practice.

Without hopefully causing any offense to the willing unsubscribers there are umpteen different ways to not be receiving list-traffic (go to your subscription details, you know - the place you joined from in the 1st place, hit the spam button on your email client, find your own creative solution, etc. etc.).  It's easy.

Very best wishes to all,

Julian

If fact, like most such lists, it's very episodic, with long silent stretches. I've been otherwise occupied and haven't participated for some time, but it's comforting to see sporadic signs of focussed activity devoted to art rather than commerce.

Silence's yearly volume of emails isn't 'intolerable' after all
