Yes, the Kathan Brown book is very beautiful and very useful, too. (I would have mentioned it if I weren't limiting myself to 5 titles.)

Since you asked specifically about Gann's book, it's everything you ever wanted to know about 4'33" told in a reasonably entertaining style.  I like Gann's writing, but the book is a summary of existing material in a series intended for a wide audience.
