Good points, Wendy.  I still struggle with doing the right thing  (which is 
informing victims about each other, because that usually prompts a  
willingness 
to pursue formal action once they know they are not alone), and  violating 
FERPA.  Usually, I say something like "If there was another woman  who 
reported 
an assault by the same perp, would you want to know about  her?"  Then, we 
can 
get them to sign FERPA consents to tell each of them  about the other.  
Ridiculous, but otherwise we run the risk of violating  federal law.
