The Drink Detective is a new product just released in this country last
week.  It comes from the UK and is distributed by Waypoint Biomedical.

list a couple of weeks ago and have gotten mixed reaction.  First of all,
this product is state of the art and cannot be compared to the old drinksafe
coasters which were not effective. I tested the new Drink detective on
camera (NBC) never having done it before.  It was simple and I had my result
in ONE second (a ketamine drug).  It also tests for benzo type drugs with a
sophisticated pregnancy type test and it tests for GHB.  It is easy to use
and what people don't "get" is that this is a valuable safety tool to have
on hand (in purse or wallet) and would only be used in two possible
circumstances.  1) if you are suspicious for any reason OR 2) if you or a
friend starts feeling dizzy or nauseous out of proportion with what you have
had to drink.  I have one in my purse and if, God forbid, I ever found
myself getting dizzy while out in a social situation I would have the option
(lucky me) to head to the bathroom with my drink and test it (takes 30
seconds)  If it tested positive I would then dial 911 on my cell phone to
summon the authorities.  When they arrive I would show them the physical
positive test results and ask to be taken to the hospital for further
testing and observation/help.  Maybe the perpetrator would even be arrested
- imagine that!  As things stand now drug rape predators only get arrested
when they videotape themselves having sex with their unconscious victims,
ala Andrew Luster or Greg Heidl in California.  Usually it is the predator
who offers to drive the dizzy victim home and then rape them.

Why would any caring person keep a valuable tool like this from the hands of
the public???
