I Never Called it Rape is a book written by a journalist about a study.
The study that I Never Called it Rape is based on
(The one cited most often as Koss, M.P., Gidycz, C.A., & Wisniewski, N. (1987). Incidence and prevalence of sexual aggression and victimization in a national sample of higher education students. Journal of Consulting and Clinical Psychology, 55, 162-170. )
didn't ask about the timing of incidents. It was a prevalence and incidence study that used the sexual experiences survey as part of what was called the National Survey of Inter-Gender Relationships.
I talked to Mary Koss about this last year and she said that her survey couldn't tell us about timing of assaults because they didn't ask about that, and that I should ask Bonnie Fisher about timing. Bonnie Fisher said her research did not support the idea of increased risk at the start of the year.

I have found the "red zone" to be supported by Mary P. Koss' study included
in Robin Warshaw's "I Never Called It Rape." I unfortunately have also found
it to ring true in my Clery act data collection.
Sorry I can't cite the page number, it has been checked out of our library.

Please clarify if you mean that the Fisher research showed no indication of
this, or if the evidence appeared to disprove it.
