Bandcamp downloads come in a nice variety of forms -
from compressed to uncompressed:
two different kinds of mp3s, FLAC, AAC, Ogg Vorbis,
ALAC, WAV, and AIFF. With them all being the same price,
this is a good thing, so if you’re getting to the point
where physical media just takes up too much room,
then this is a good alternative. I still buy LPs from them tho.

I was excited to see Mode show up there,
because Bandcamp has become the best alternative
with a growing base of support. Hopefully, when all
of the available titles are shown, there’ll be a bulk
discount price attached soon.

The community and up-to-date knowledge
derived from Bandcamp is quite astounding.
It reminds me, in some ways, of the personal-influence
of free-form radio from the late 60s/early 70s.
I’m seeing that effect on a good number of
younger people over the past decade.

My collection from them is approaching 1000
and many end up in mixes or in broadcasts -
often because of their newness and inventiveness.
Plus, I can load up all of the almost 1000, hit random,
and let them play through all of the speakers in the house.
