ATIXA Executive Director Katie Walker asked me to share this message:
Dear Colleagues,
We appreciate the work of SUNY SCI, as we do the work of any organization that helps to further Title IX compliance and gender equity in the education field. We don’t believe in taking swipes at any organization that does good work, and we hope you will support them if their program is of value to you. Since ATIXA’s inception ten years ago, it has provided up to $200,000 a year in free trainings to you, our colleagues, through our scholarship program and just passed the milestone of having certified our 16,750th professional. We are pleased that the field considers our certifications significant emblems of Title IX competency and professionalism. We have worked very hard to establish a core and consistent training program that is considered the gold standard in the field, and we are constantly innovating to improve it.
Additionally, as a professional association, we represent the interests of our members, and provide a leading national voice to advance changes to Title IX that are supportive of the rights of victims/survivors and promote equity. Our mission to give back is exemplified by our weekly IX and Wine discussion series, which is free for our members during the crisis, and open to the public once a month. Please join us this Friday, wine is optional, IX is not.
We have offered open-source policy templates to the field since before ATIXA was even formed, and our site offers voluminous free resources to the field, and always has. We hope you have used these, and continue to access them. They’re cleverly hidden under a menu tab on our website called “Free Resources” and even more resources are posted on our entirely free clearinghouse sister site, www.TitleIX.com. Our annual research grants support significant surveys, studies, and data collection about Title IX work, and our member survey is one of the only sources for Title IX compensation survey data. Similar to SUNY SCI, ATIXA has seven significant free publications and webinars planned once the new Title IX regulations are released, but we’re also going to continue to charge for many of our resources, as we always have, and as all member associations do. Quality requires research, investment, and the recruiting of top talent. Our 3,500 members agree. We’re also pleased to be able to offer a diverse and inclusive roster of trainers and consultants, the majority of whom are women.
Luckily, the field is a big tent, and we’re always happy to see additional organizations contributing to moving the wheel forward. We appreciate all that you all do every day to press the cause of gender equity in our space, and hope that our mission is supportive of yours.
