Dear Colleagues,

I know that many of us have already limited budgets for compliance, response, and importantly prevention and that some of us are already experiencing budget cuts amidst COVID-19.  I’ve also noticed a lot of private/for-profit companies offering “certifications” in Title IX (which don’t exist) for pretty hefty prices.  The more that we spend to train one person on compliance needs, the less that can be used for things like prevention and victim support services.

Rather than charging up to $2,000 per person for a single person to complete one online training (in addition to institutional membership fees), there are other options now.  Some of my colleagues at SUNY developed the Student Conduct Institute, www.system.suny.edu/sci which includes online trainings, hyper localized live trainings, state specific trainings, a casebook, webinars, and guidance documents accessible to anyone at the institution at a not-for-profit membership.  They are even offering joint guidance on the TIX regulations free of charge.  https://system.suny.edu/sci/tix2020/

It’s one flat fee (designed just to cover their costs) and there are never any upcharges.  Period.  It’s important that everyone gets access to the same content, even as they are otherwise very differently resourced. By reducing training costs, it helps campuses return funds where they belong—to serving your students.

Stay well and stay informed.

Elizabeth
