Colleagues,
Two quick items:
1- Last call for this free webinar as NASPA-Culture of Respect and The State University of New York present Accessible and Low-Cost Resources for Institutions During COVID-19 and Beyond on April 27, 2020 from 3:00 – 4:00 EST.
SUNY has been proud to partner with Culture of Respect/NASPA for many years and this webinar will cover many of the free and low-cost resources that can help colleges comply, prevent, and respond during regular times and this new, unprecedented era.
Join 430+(!) already registered from 260+ institutions in 45 states, D.C., and six Canadian Provinces for this timely discussion. Register for free at: https://www.naspa.org/course/accessible-and-low-cost-resources-for-institutions-during-covid-19-and-beyond-hosted-by-culture-of-respect-at-naspa-and-suny
2- If you haven’t seen, our friends at the One Love Foundation have moved their annual healthy relationships program, Yards for Yeardley, virtual, and folks have pledged over a half-billion yards (the goal was 100 million)! I’m pleased to say that our SUNY family has pledged millions of yards and one of our campuses, Oswego, helped kick off the program just a few weeks ago. Y4Y is a nice program to raise awareness of dating violence and educate students on moving to healthier relationships (live and virtual). Learn more (free and easy to join and share) at https://www.joinonelove.org/yards-for-yeardley/.
Best wishes to all for good health.
Sincerely, Joe
Please join Culture of Respect and SUNY for a free live briefing: Accessible and Low-Cost Resources for Institutions During COVID-19 and Beyond. While COVID-19 has upended nearly everything in higher education, it has not changed our core obligations to respond to violence in a way that limits its effects and prevents its recurrence, and to engage in proven and promising prevention programs. In this live brief, we will feature programs and resources developed by Culture of Respect and The State University of New York that are not only responsive to specific requirements of the law, but help institutions go beyond minimal compliance to better “meet students where they are.” The session will move down the incident stream, starting with upstream prevention, through online training, response, and awareness resources specific to different groups at risk of violence, and a cutting-edge training program in comprehensive response. We will also draw upon years of experience to discuss how to apply these resources in a distance/digital environment, and also to use this time to construct building blocks towards long-term improvement in response and prevention. This live briefing is open to all and at no cost. Register today.
