Laura, Gillian, and Jen,
I would be interested in this information as well, as the other advocate and
I are trying to reach out to study abroad programs here and need a more
structured approach.
Thanks!

Hi,
The Study Abroad program asked me to make a handout which basically did what
Gillian said-outlined resources, prevention ideas, explained how women from
the US can be perceived/treated, perceptions/laws/treatment regarding LGBTQ
students, laws, resources, etc. This was a while ago so it's probably dated.
Time to create a new one - thanks for this reminder! Additionally I've had
discussions with groups of students doing special programs at the professors'
request; for example, I spoke to students who were spending a summer month
in Cambodia about sex trafficking and gender issues specific to the culture
as well as sexual assault resources/prevention.
Best,
Laura

I did workshops for students who were planning to study abroad for many years
while working at UCSC in Rape Prevention Education. I'd be happy to share the
approach and content if you like. It was heavy on prevention. Sorry I don't
have handouts but I can re-create the outlines if that would be helpful. On
resources after rape I encouraged them to find out as much about their
prospective countries before they left: women's resource centers; rape crisis
centers etc.
Best,
Gillian

Good evening!
I would love to hear about any resources you use for students who are
studying abroad, in terms of both information/resources they get before they
go and ways you help them connect with resources and support while abroad,
after experiencing an assault.
Thanks!
Best,
Jen
