Hello everyone, My name is Ross Steinborn and I’m an outreach specialist with a community Rape Crisis Center in Massachusetts. We’ve recently signed an MOU with a local university and are attempting to set up a university hotline and we had a few questions.
For instance: ·
Those of you whose school operate a hotline, do you do it on your own or as a part of a community hotline?
·
If you do it on your own, how does confidentiality work?
·
If you do it in collaboration with a local rape crisis center, what does that relationship look like?
o
Does the School’s hotline volunteers take shifts that might receive calls from the community? Or are calls to the university line diverted to university volunteers and community calls to RCC volunteers?
o
Do you have students staff the university hotline, or only staff? How do clarify the advocate role with students- what the advocate can and can’t do? Any other challenges you might have come across would also be helpful.
