RESEARCH ON SEXUAL VIOLENCE IN LGBTQ COMMUNITY

Request for Participants From Dr. Amber Pope

Hi everyone, I am consulting on a survey research project with two colleagues in Criminal Justice (including Dr. Corina Schulze), exploring the perceptions of sexual assault and the occurrence of sexual assault disclosure and help-seeking behaviors within LGBTQ communities. If you have any listservs or groups on your campus or elsewhere where you can distribute the participation request (See Dr. Schulze’s message below), I would greatly appreciate your help to explore this understudied and neglected area of experiences.

Dear Potential Participant,

We seek individuals to participate in a study on the perception and occurrence of sexual violence within LGBTQ communities.  Researchers of sexual violence, who tend to focus on female victims in heterosexual encounters, have largely neglected studying the occurrence within LGBTQ communities. We respectfully ask for your help and valuable insight by filling out our anonymous online survey.

Specifically, we are requesting the assistance of members and allies of LGBTQ communities who are at least 19 years of age. Participation in this study will be anonymous, and take a total of approximately 30 minutes. You will be asked to complete an online survey of approximately 100 questions. You may withdraw your interest in participating at any time.  If you know of anyone who fits this criterion and is interested in this study, please feel free to forward them this email.

To compensate you for your time, you will be given an opportunity to enter a drawing for a $50 dollar Amazon gift card at the conclusion of the survey.  More information about the study, and how we safeguard your privacy, can be found by clicking on the link provided.  Please copy and paste the link into your address bar if you cannot access it from this email.

Thank you in advance for your consideration and assistance.
