The Center on Domestic Violence offers a one-of-a-kind, master degree and certificate programs designed to prepare individuals with the knowledge and skills to guide interpersonal violence service and advocacy programs.  Applications for fall 2013 enrollment in the Program on Domestic Violence are now being accepted. If you or somebody you know might be interested in applying, please don’t hesitate to email, call, or visit our website at www.domesticviolence.ucdenver.edu to learn more.

Structured for distance learning, classes are offered in a unique hybrid model involving week-long, intensive class sessions held in Denver twice a year coupled with on on-line and/or traditional classroom learning.  Students in the program come from across the country and have a wide range of experience - from survivors and seasoned advocates to recent college graduates and those new to the field. The program includes nationally renowned speakers - Beth Richie, Jacquelyn Campbell, Evan Stark, Barbara Hart, Olga Trujillo, Lundy Bancroft, Patti Bland, and Jackson Katz have served as distinguished guest presenters.

P.S.

This is the story about one of our amazing graduates – and about making dreams come true. Kara was a 29-year old single mother whose dream was to dedicate her career to ending domestic violence. But Kara’s career was not moving and she desperately wanted to do more for her agency and the clients she served. In 2010 Kara entered the Program on Domestic Violence. Kara now calls that a life changing decision.  After completing the program, Kara was promoted to Director of Development at her agency and the research she had done as a student on meeting the needs of LGBTQ survivors was taking on national significance.  Kara’s dream to have an important impact on domestic violence in her community – and the nation – is coming true.

Many thanks,

Barb
