Thank you, Wade, for sending this to us. I just had an opportunity to watch it. Until I got to the last 2 minutes, I was cringing, anticipating all the opportunities for victim-blaming that I feared would come
from students. In the end, I felt relief and was pleased with the way appropriate bystander behavior was modeled here. However, I think when I use it (and I plan to), I will most likely do some front-loading, before showing it. Something like taking a poll
“How many of you belief that a woman deserves to be raped (or is asking for it), if she gets wasted when she’s out at a bar or at a party”. Assuming most will vote “no”, I would hope to circumvent some of that reaction and be able to focus on the bystander
aspects of the video. Just thought I would put that out there. Shari Pergricht,

First of all I’d like to thank everyone that sent me links and information about bystander intervention programs. I am still trying to get back to people individually to thank
them. Secondly, if anyone attended the SCOPE webinar today, it was excellent and well worth it. It generated a lot of good conversations
Thirdly, a colleague sent me this link to a video the New Zealand government published about Bystander Intervention at colleges and universities there. The basic theme is, there
are many occasions leading up to a completed sexual assault, when numerous people in the survivor’s life could have intervened. It’s about 7 minutes long but very well done and I plan to show it at future programs here.
