Organization Overview
The Center for Relationship Abuse Awareness, founded in 2005, is a non-profit organization working to provide education and training so that communities and institutions respond effectively to women who are experiencing relationship abuse. We train professionals such as university staff, social workers, law enforcement, health care providers, educators and court personnel to effectively respond to domestic violence survivors and their children. Collaborating with and educating these professionals so that they can participate in the solution to end domestic violence creates long lasting systemic change. Our partnership with Stanford University is the Center’s main project. We provide training, education and consulting to the Stanford University community about issues of violence against women.
Reports to: Executive Director
Primary Job Responsibilities:
Work with the Executive Director to:
- Coordinate 5-10 regular volunteers and engage them in meaningful work for the Center;
- Manage 10-15 student interns, including designing and supervising intern projects;
- Recruit new volunteers and interns, including Stanford undergraduates, graduate students, and students from the Medical, Business, and Law Schools;
- Supervise communication and outreach to the larger community about the Center and its educational services;
- Design and implement trainings and presentations on domestic violence;
- Work closely with community members to schedule trainings;
- Build and maintain relationships with domestic violence and allied organizations, including attending presentations and meetings as a representative of the Center;
- Update the Center’s website content;
- Assist with grant-writing and other fundraising;
- Coordinate annual fundraising email/mail campaign;
- Coordinate fundraising and volunteer appreciation events;
- Serve as a liaison to the Board of Directors;
- Manage basic nonprofit accounting functions, such as processing payroll, depositing funds, and preparing tax documents;
- Provide clerical and administrative assistance to the organization, including filing, copying, retrieving/sorting mail, and making arrangements for presentations.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree required. Master’s Degree preferred.
- Two years experience in the domestic violence and/or violence against women field required.
- One year experience with project coordination and implementation required.
- Two years professional experience required.
- Fundraising experience preferred.
- Knowledge of the nature and dynamics of domestic violence;
- Knowledge of general domestic violence organization protocols, services, and philosophy.
- Be resourceful, flexible, organized, able to manage multiple projects simultaneously and capable of taking the initiative.
- Have the ability to organize and prioritize diverse, complex projects efficiently.
- Excellent public speaking and writing skills.
- Experience in Microsoft Software, including Word, Excel, and Powerpoint (knowledge of Quickbooks a plus).
- Facility with e-mail, Internet, and other basic computer functions.
- Must work well with individuals from diverse backgrounds, especially college-aged students.
- Must have a valid driver’s license, auto insurance, and have transportation for attending meetings and presentations.
- This position requires a minimum commitment of 2 years.
