*Position Description:*
One 12-month continuing position that provides short-term individual, group,
and crisis counseling, consultation services and outreach programming, and
training and supervision of graduate students and pre-doctoral interns. The
pre-doctoral internship program in professional psychology received full
7-year accreditation by the American Psychological Association as of
2006. Depending
on the skills and interests of the successful candidate, this position may
involve the coordination of the center’s sexual assault treatment services.
Additionally, the successful candidate may also be involved in teaching
undergraduate psychology courses.
*Minimum Qualifications:*
Successful candidate must (1) have a doctorate in clinical or counseling
psychology or closely related field and (2) be licensed or license eligible
as a clinical psychologist in the Commonwealth of Virginia. Employment with
James Madison University is contingent upon the results of a criminal
background check.
*Desired Qualifications:*
Previous training and experience in a college or university counseling
center desirable. Preferred qualities of the candidate include: (1)
well-developed counseling and clinical supervision skills, (2) a
collaborative spirit of warmth, acceptance, respect, and trust towards
colleagues, (3) the energy to flexibly manage the professional demands of a
challenging caseload while maintaining positive and healthy perspectives and
relationships, (4) a self-motivated, self-directed commitment to high
professional ideals, (5) excellent oral and written communication skills,
(6) demonstrated experience and interest in psychometric assessment, and (7)
licensure as a clinical psychologist.

the International Association of Counseling Centers and resides in the
Division of
