We've seen mandatory programming addressing sexual assault done various ways around the country.

1. Attendance at the event impacts your grade in the FYE (First Year Experience) course.

2. Some schools have a certain number of presentations you must attend each year. Without the "points" from the events (often tracked by swiping the ID card), you get last chance at registering for classes (if I remember correctly).

3. Other schools mandate without taking attendance. Instead, they give away prizes at that specific program. For instance, one of the schools I present at each Fall gives away a semester's tuition at the conclusion of the presentation.

The #1 rule most schools have learned is ALWAYS have the students sign- in or swipe their cards at the CONCLUSION of the program. :-)

Hi Joann,

I'd be interested in hearing what you find out, and I would guess other
colleagues on the list would as well. We're making a similar effort here.

Thanks!

Hello Colleagues,

I am in the process of doing some research on what other universities are
doing regarding mandatory sexual assault education for students living on
campus, specifically freshmen.  Are educators addressing this during
orientation? Does anyone have an on-going program they do in the dorms? I
would be interested in seeing a sample of the curriculum you are using, for
those willing to share.

Thank you,
