For all of us working to end violence against women in all forms, what is your reaction to David Letterman's sexually degrading comments against Sarah Palin's daughter?

The lack of public outcry from all viewpoints is disappointing. Organizations and individuals need to be consistent in our messages. When Don Imus made offensive racial remarks against a basketball team, many in our country spoke out and helped evoke a strong reaction by the networks running his show. His comments were deplored by people from all political viewpoints.

In this case, everyone can speak out by contacting their local CBS affiliate. David Letterman's "apology" on air simply made a joke about the REACTION people were having. Part of his reaction was -- their only jokes -- then why doesn't he make repulsive and degrading comments ONLY about his own family? After all, they are only jokes. Because he knows that would hurt the people he cares about.

This is not a political issue. This is a societal issue of accepting sexual degradation. Please join us in speaking out. Utilize the many mediums to communicate that are available. For instance, we just posted a YouTube video response (can be watched at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q_WgukW3PtA) and then a comment on Twitter and FaceBook.
