this happened 2 years ago and we all did a lot in response to this, though of 
course, nothing happened.  is this a repeat or are they just now showing it 
on 20/20?  what a horrific title - jamming their inbox is a great idea, and 
an even better one would be to try and get some training for their staff 
about these issues - that would make a greater change!

My friends at Unite for Change sent me an email about the DeAnza College 
Rape.  Three female soccer players apparently stepped in to save a girl from 
being gang raped: http://abcnews.go.com/2020/

I eagerly went to ABC News' page - instead of labeling it a gang rape, or 
even alleged gang rape, the label reads, "Teen Binge Drinking Erupts in 
Scandal"!!!!

Despite these very articulate soccer players describing their bystander 
efforts to rescue their friend, the question from the interviewer (after 
hearing the graphic details about the rape), is "were you just worried about 
her sobriety, or were you worried about an assault that had just happened?" 
It seems like the rape is an afterthought for this interviewer. 

The interviewer also tries to clarify that the pants were "ripped off, not 
just taken off?" Hey, it's still rape, even if her pants were taken off with 
linen gloves - she was intoxicated and passed out. 

How much victim-blaming will we put up with, exactly?  Let's let ABC News 
know - you can comment on the story if you sign in and create a free

explained that the story had been mis-labeled.  I expressed confidence that 
they'd do the right thing before hordes of sexual violence prevention folks 
wrote them, demanding that they stop blaming victims.  :)
