Below is a link to a recent "Walk a Mile" event in our area.  It
demonstrates many of the reasons I find this event problematic and
inappropriate as a fundraiser for sexual and intimate partner violence
programs.  Focusing on primary violence prevention means we must address
sexism and homophobia as part of our work and it seems to me impossible
to do this event (though I understand well-intentioned programs have
tried to) in a way that doesn't ultimately reinforce rather than
challenge those isms.
