Sub-Board I, Inc., the student owned and operated service corporation at
the University at Buffalo, is announcing an employment opening for the
position of Assistant Director in its Health Education Division. The SBI
Health Education division of the corporation is responsible for
operating services which are designed to promote the education of health
and safety related issues and their effect on our student population.
The components of the division are varied and they include the following
services. The Sexuality Education Center facilitates educational
awareness for individuals who have issues and questions related to human
sexuality. The AIDS Coalition raises awareness about HIV/AIDS and how it
impacts the campus community and the world at large (HIV pre and
post-test counseling is also provided). This is facilitated through
workshops and events such as World AIDS Day and the Spring AIDS
Memorial. The Anti-Rape Task Force (ARTF) provides awareness of sexual
and domestic violence through educational workshops on the various
facets of rape, sexual assault, date and acquaintance rape. ARTF is also
responsible for scheduling and planning events such as Take Back the
Night, a Violence Against Women's Awareness event, etc. Walk and shuttle
services are provided as well through ARTF. Finally, the Sub-Board
Players is an improvisational student acting troupe who promote
awareness (and encourage discourse) of the issues which are embodied in
the services listed above.

The Assistant Director is a full-time/salaried professional staff
position and is responsible for managing the daily affairs of two
components (Anti-Rape Task Force, and Sub-Board Players) within the
division. This involves training and supervising an immediate staff of 7
that consists of the students who plan and administer the programs as
well as an additional volunteer staff of student van drivers, nightly
walk station coordinators, event programmers, educators, interns and
Player participants. As a health education service, the candidate is
also expected to: participate in Peer Education Training (an intensive
two week training session) at the beginning of every semester; assist
with the other components within the division (Sexuality Education
Center, and the AIDS Coalition) when the need arises; and plan and
schedule programs/events that are associated with this division's
mission. 

This posting encourages any and all qualified individuals who have the
appropriate experience to apply. The minimum requirements are a
Bachelors degree in Health and Human Services, Social Work, Psychology
or Student Personnel with an emphasis in Human Sexuality, Sexual
Assault, Domestic Violence, and/or a background in student activities,
student personnel and supervision. The starting annual salary for the
position is $27,000+ and includes excellent benefits.
