Hi Nancy:

I'm the Director of the Women & Gender Resource Action Center (WGRAC) at
Trinity College (Hartford), and  co-facilitate a Support Group for
Victims and Survivors of Violence and their Friends. This is our second
year of the group, and we currently have 5 students attending, all
survivors of rape, sexual assault, incest and/or abusive relationships.
My co-facilitator is from the local rape crisis center (SACS), and
though each session starts with a 'check-in," the group helps us decide
what we do next.  The main goal is healing and growth. . Each student is
in a different stage of recovery, and most see a counselor outside of
group. We've helped them with sleep/nightmare  issues; PTSD;  guided
meditation for relaxation; coping mechanisms; issues around sex; support
systems;  healthy relationships v unhealthy, and more. Each week we
close with a poem one student has chosen. We meet twice monthly; next
semester the students want to meet every week.

If you have any specific questions, please email me at:
.
