The response I received from Diane Rosenfeld is pasted below. Again,
apologies for any confusion.
"... my presentation from the conference at which I say that schools should
have these policies, I didn't say must. However,
schools have to have sexual harassment policies easily accessible and
comprehesible under Title IX (see the guidelines) and while they don't
specify policy mandates, schools have been held liable for not having
adequate programs. Working backward from the liability issues, then, it is
suggested (strongly) that schools enact these policies both to avoid
liability, but also and more importantly, to prevent sexual assault on their
campuses."

I would like to know if this is a requirement under Title IX, as well. I
recently went over our university's sexual harassment brochure with a women's
studies course I teach; none of the students had ever seen it before or even
knew it existed.

Subject: Title IX Requirement
I went to a workshop recently and heard a presenter state that campuses are
now required to provide mandatory incoming sexual violence prevention
education under Title IX. I haven't been able to find any guidelines
directly from the federal government about this. Does anyone know what I
referring to or have the source? If so, please email me at
!
