Hello all,
   Here at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, we have three
different courses that train peer educators to provide sexual violence
prevention workshops. Two of the courses are introductory peer educator
training courses, and one is an advanced level practicum for continuing
peer educators. The oldest of these courses has been around for 15 years
or so. Two have found homes in our Community Health department (which
seems like we had a professor that we had historically had a
relationship with), but our newest course is within our Gender & Women's
Studies dept (which is considerably more friendly/sympathetic to our
course at the moment). Also, although we had to initially propose these
courses to their departments, we do not have to have a professor either
teach or sign off on it. (Though from speaking with other universities,
many schools are not willing to give up that authority to let
"non-academics" teach). BUT, b/c we're not actually professors, we have
"experimental" course numbers for the time being, which don't require
the same depth of proposal. 
   I teach all three courses, so I'm happy to answer any questions

Undergraduate semester-long course, 3 credit hours, to train students to
provide workshops to incoming freshmen on acquaintance rape.

2) Community Health 340B2: Preventing Rape Through Education Practicum
Undergraduate semester-long course, 3 credit hours (pass/fail), to
provide advanced skills and experience to facilitators, build
pedagogical theory.

3) Gender & Women's Studies 199RW: Fraternity Peer Rape Education
Program
Undergraduate year-long course for members of all-male social
fraternities, 4 credit hours total, to train students to become
educators to their own chapters. (Based on Mahlstedt's Fraternity
Violence Education Project @ West Chester University)

I am exploring the option of creating a credit bearing course our Sexual
Assault/DV advocates.  If you have a credit bearing course for your peer
educator/advocate program I was hoping you could share your course
