In this workshop we will explore music, movies, and magazines and how they shape our attitudes and beliefs about violence, sex, gender, and relationships.

(B) "Ear of the Beholder": a play about sexual harassment for middle schools
What exactly is sexual harassment? How do you know if it's being done to you, and how do you know if you're doing it to someone else? During our interactive presentation, you will learn the difference between flirting and harassing, and what you can do to stand up for yourself if it does happens.

(A) "Tough Guise"
This workshop will look at how our society defines "masculinity" and how those definitions impact men (young men in particular). The link between violence and our ideas of manhood will also be explored. Select excerpts from Jackson Katz's "Tough Guise" video will be used as a foundation for discussion.

(B) "Speak Up": Open Forum on Teen
Dating Violence
This workshop will offer teens an opportunity to learn more about and openly discuss the serious issue of dating violence. A skit will be performed and participants will use role plays to practice their skills at helping victims of violence.
Presented by LCSJ (Loudoun Citizens for Social Justice) Teen Advocates
Session #4 (11:15-12:15 am)
"I Never Saw It Coming": a play about dating violence and sexual assault.
The play consists of monologues, short scenes and ensemble pieces that teens have found to be authentic and thought provoking. Following the play, VIVA members will facilitate small group discussions with audience members so these issues can be explored with candor and honesty.
