Subject: ANISE - Advanced Nuclear and Isotope Science and Engineering Hub
Description:
The Advanced Nuclear and Isotope Science and Engineering (ANISE) Hub is designed to position UVA and the Commonwealth more broadly as a national leader in advanced nuclear technology and isotope production and use within diagnostic and therapeutic medicine. The initiative brings together researchers from engineering, physics, data science, medicine, and other disciplines, while leveraging partnerships such as collaborations with Oak Ridge National Laboratory and the Virginia Innovative Nuclear (VIN) Hub sponsored by the Commonwealth. The hub plans to foster interdisciplinary research, education, and workforce development through joint programs, workshops, and student exchanges while attracting major federal, industry, and philanthropic funding. Overall, the hub aims to expand research capacity, strengthen collaborations, and accelerate innovations in nuclear fission and fusion clean energy technologies and isotope science.
