Hello VAA,

Hidden in this ridiculously long email is a coded message (no, I don't want to study for my midterms either).

If you find it, you get a prize. Instructions encoded.

-------------------------------
This Week's Speaker
-------------------------------

This week we are very excited to host a Recent alumni (and past VAA president) Erik Pomrenke. Here is his description of his talk:

Buddhist Psychology and Philosophy
Often relegated to new-age metaphysical nonsense or fetishistic orientalism, I would like to propose that wisdom from the East should be taken seriously by the world at large. Indeed, Buddhist thought lies in concord with modern scientific consensus and makes no metaphysical claims. While claims of direct influence in Western thought are often Exaggerated, Buddhism offers very fertile parallels to some of the most important questions raised in our philosophy, such as the nature of the self, and what living a meaningful life should mean in a seemingly empty universe.

The meeting will be held in New Cabell 168, 7-8pm. As Per usual, stick around for IHOP if your schedule allows!

--------------------------------------------
DUES
--------------------------------------------

And now, for something completely different:

Are you hyped for our Halloween party?
Do you want to Paint Beta Bridge with us?
Do you Like food?
Do you want to potentially run for an officer position, or vote in our elections?
Do You like cats?

Good news! You can support any or all of these things WITH your money by giving our treasurer, Bradley the yearly membership dues- which are $10. [Meetings are always open to the general public, regardless of dues. So if you're not sure about your position on Food, or cats, At this time you should still keep showing up!]

Apple Picking

---------------------------------------------
Philanthropy
---------------------------------------------
I have a short blurb on behalf of Kelly and Elliot: Every year, we plan a fund-raiser for The Haven, the local homeless shelter. In a few weeks, we will start Creating collection boxes to be placed around grounds, with the hope of obtaining funds or items that will go into care packages. If you have Any interest in helping out, please keep an eye out for Notes or emails from them. Additionally, if you go home for fall break and spot any winter clothes or small toiletry items that you have no use for, bring them back to grounds to Donate!

Thank you for Your patience with this email, and good luck! All potential prizes redeemable only at the meeting this Thursday.
