For this week we're watching The Truman Show, a critically-acclaimed movie concerning the life of Truman Burbank, a man in a Norman Rockwell-esque small town that, unbeknownst to him but known to everyone else around him, is actually a massive stage for a reality show. As the film progresses, Truman slowly realizes the true nature of his beloved Seahaven. How does he react?
The unique premise of The Truman Show makes it a great foundation for discussions on reality, illusion, and the relationship between media and society. Is there a likeness to our world and Truman's Seahaven? How does mass media influence our beliefs? Is it a negative influence or a positive one?
To discuss these and other related questions, please join us on Friday, 8:00pm at Clemons 407. Also, there will be a group of us going to dinner beforehand, so if you want to join, please meet us by the Rotunda (street-side) at 6:45pm.
Here is a magazine article on the movie:

Hope to see you all there!
