Hey VAAers,

For our last talk of the semester, long-standing VAAer Jonquil Bailey will be presenting on disability studies, a new critical lens that has emerged out of the tradition of race and gender studies. Her master's thesis on this very topic has recently been passed (!!!) by the English department, so congratulations to her on that. Tomorrow night in her talk, "Disability: A Fiction", she will be giving an introduction to the study of "disability" as a socially constructed phenomenon, and addressing how disability appears and functions in literature, culture, and religion. Images of disabled individuals are prolific in society, and Jonquil will be suggesting how and why we might challenge the way we receive and produce those images. So - prepare to have your assumptions examined!

Join her, myself, and the rest of your favourite atheists at:

New Cabell 411, Thursday, 7:00 P.M.

Until then,

John Kubinski
VAA President
