Northwestern University Libraries is happy to announce we are accepting applications for the next cycle of the John Cage Research Grants. See the announcement below, and please note we have expanded our travel grant program. Cage adjacent collections are eligible for funding using the Charles Deering McCormick grant.

 

 

 

The Charles Deering McCormick Library of Special Collections and University Archives at Northwestern welcomes applications for our current round of Grants for Visiting Researchers. Applications are due Friday, April 17, 2026. This year we are happy to offer three grants of up to $3000 available for use between September 1, 2026 through August 1, 2027 to reimburse expenses for transportation, accommodations, and meals for one or more on-site visits to Northwestern University Libraries.

 

·       Charles Deering McCormick Library Research Grant 

• John Cage Research Grant 

• Minow Research Grant for the University Archives 

 

Upon completion of the research, grant awardees will be required to submit a brief report summarizing the use of the collection(s) and how the visit benefited their research. 

The grants are open to academic and independent researchers. We encourage applications by those working in traditional academic fields as well as those whose research is interdisciplinary, or oriented towards creative arts and practices. There are no restrictions as to the applicant’s nationality or academic status.
