omaggio a Walter Marchetti
A
special day of broadcasts celebrating the life and work of the late
Walter Marchetti (1931 - 2015), comprising critic and composer Tom
Johnson's "Music By My Friends" devoted to the composer; Ed Baxter in
conversation with Johnson and ZAJ member Esther Ferrer, June 2011, to
coincide with Gone With The Wind at Raven Row; Richard Thomas in
conversation with musicologist Gabriele Bonomo and publisher Emanuele
Carcano, 2011; and writer Howard Slater in conversation with Water
Marchetti himself in a unique English language interview conducted in
London in May 2000 on the occasion of Marchetti's performance of Nei Mari Del Sud Musica In Secca at LMC's Annual Festival.
Plus "Lascia o raddoppia?" performed by the Resonance Radio Orchestra,
which recreates Marchetti's success in this popular Italian tv quiz; and
copious examples of this singular composer's work, including a
performance of Music for a Too Small Glass at the Hayward Gallery, May 2000; and De Musicorum Infelicitate, read inaudibly by Esther Ferrer, at Arika's Episode 2, Tramway, Glasgow, February 2012.
With compliments
