Hello SAPC -
I am working with someone who is an adult survivor of child sexual abuse by a family member. The abuser died almost 25 years ago, however they were an "esteemed" professor and the university he worked at has a scholarship named in his honor. The survivor knows of at least one other person he abused, and as we all know, it is extremely likely that there are many others.
The survivor never told anyone until recently and would like the university to know so that they can consider naming the scholarship after someone else.
Questions: Have you all dealt with an endowment or scholarship named after an abuser? If so, or even if not, who would you recommend the survivor notify for potential action? I originally thought of Title IX/OIED folks, but wanted to hear if you all had any advice/thoughts on how to notify the university as effectively and safely as possible.
Thank you,
Juliette
