Hi friends – The Victim Rights Law Center is hiring a Managing Attorney for our Oregon office. I’ve pasted in the text of the posting below. The Managing Attorney will supervise a wonderful team of lawyers representing sexual assault survivors. (Right now, all services are being provided remotely due to COVID.) The VRLC is a great place to work. The current Managing Attorney will continue with us part-time, so we’re hoping there will be overlap between the exiting and the new hire. Job Title: Managing Attorney, Victim Rights Law Center Status: Full-time Location: Portland, Oregon
Organization: The Victim Rights Law Center (VRLC) is a nonprofit law center that provides free legal services to sexual assault survivors in Oregon and Massachusetts, and national training and support for lawyers, advocates, and other victim service providers. The VRLC’s mission is to provide legal representation to survivors of rape and sexual assault to help rebuild their lives; and to promote a national movement committed to seeking justice for every rape and sexual assault victim. We are committed to transforming the response to sexual violence through survivor-led legal practice that centers the needs and experiences of survivors experiencing oppression.
This position will be filled by a candidate who has a desire to work collaboratively to deliver survivor-centered and trauma-informed legal services, and a commitment to increasing access to justice for underserved or marginalized populations. Job Description: VRLC seeks a Managing Attorney for our Portland, Oregon, office to inspire our team and help us strengthen and expand the success of our current legal services programs. The ideal candidate will have strong management and supervision experience, work ethic, and leadership skills; creativity, passion, and compassion; courtroom and litigation experience; and a demonstrated commitment to working with survivors from underserved communities.
Responsibilities: · Supervise the 6-8 person direct legal services team in VRLC’s Oregon office · Consistent with experience and training, represent sexual assault survivors on safety, privacy, education, employment, immigration, housing, financial, and/or criminal justice advocacy matters, · Provide mentoring, skill building, and leadership to promote staff growth, team cohesion, and individual professional development

Lead effective outreach efforts and promote access to VRLC services, especially among

Help administer state and federal grants including collecting data, reporting, and ensuring · Collaborate with VRLC community partners and allied organizations · Other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications: · Minimum of 7 years legal experience; at least 3 years as a practicing attorney · Current member in good standing or eligible to waive into the Oregon State Bar
Preferred Qualifications: Experience working with sexual assault survivors or other survivors of crime or vulnerable populations · Demonstrated commitment to engaging in outreach and providing services to under-served communities · Experience managing state or federal grants · Valid driver’s license, good driving record, and comfort with driving throughout the state · Speak a language other than English to serve VRLC clients

Salary Range: $65,000-$70,000 depending on experience
