We are excited to announce a new online course released by the International Association of Forensic Nurses (IAFN) developed with funding from the Office on Violence Against Women (OVW), and in collaboration with NSVRC and partners from various disciplines. This course seeks to fill the gap for healthcare facilities that do not have access to Sexual Assault Nurse Examiners (SANE) so that no survivor of sexual assault or abuse is left without sufficient care. Please help us spread the word about this free, two-hour course open to ALL healthcare providers.

Caring for the Sexually Assaulted Patient when There is No SANE in Sight: A Training for All Health Care Providers

This training provides education and guidance for clinicians to ensure their facilities have a trauma-informed, patient-centered approach. In this course, clinicians will learn how to safeguard patients from being re-traumatized and re-victimized by anyone they encounter when seeing care after a sexual assault.

This course covers:

•   The Neurobiology of Trauma

•   The Coordinated Community Response

•   The Medical Forensic Examination

•   Courtroom Testimony

CNE and CME credits are available at no cost upon completion of the course through IAFN.
