The Tale, available on HBO, is a powerful and groundbreaking movie about child sexual abuse by an adult coach.

**EXTERNAL SENDER**

Not a movie, but something I have wanted to show and discuss. There is an episode of Friends in one of the early seasons when Ross and Rachel are on a break, the kinkos girl is attracted to Ross, gets him drunk and goes home with him. Rachel shows up the next morning to find out that Ross had sex with the Kinkos girl. I think examining how sexual assault has appeared in prime time gives a good opportunity to witness how public understanding of rape and sexual assault has evolved. (There’s a good episode of Facts of Life too that focuses on ‘stranger rape’ and ‘why was Natalie walking home alone’…so there was progress by the time we got to Friends).

…back to movies…Speak.

Hi Everyone,

I am thinking about a film series for SAAM in April… “Monday Movie” followed by a panel discussion. Do you know of any recent movies to showcase? I have Audrie & Daisy, Hunting Ground, and Invisible War. Also, we are thinking about Confirmation (Anita Hill) and On the Basis of Sex (RBG).

Best,

Marissa
