Job Description

The Associate Director of the Women’s Center leads a comprehensive sexual violence education and prevention program for a diverse student body at Boston College. The Associate Director serves as a clinical supervisor and case coordinator to the Sexual Assault Network’s (SANet) hotline and in-person CARE Team services. SANet serves as the University’s primary point of contact for survivors of sexual misconduct, and thus the Associate Director will also be responsible for providing crisis counseling, individual support, and assistance to students as part of SANet’s services. Sexual misconduct encompasses sexual assault, relationship violence, stalking, domestic violence, and other behaviors of a sexual nature that occur without the consent of the recipient. The Associate Director develops and implements inclusive evidence-based prevention and educational strategies designed to reduce sexual violence.

Full-Time Equivalent Hiring Range: $61,400 to $76,750; salary commensurate with relevant experience.


Requirements

Master’s Degree in counseling, social work, or related field required

Must be licensed or eligible for licensure in Massachusetts (supervision would be provided to support independent licensure); independent licensure preferred (e.g., LICSW, LMHC)

Minimum of two years of experience providing direct services to survivors of sexual violence or crisis counseling or women’s health

Experience in higher education, working directly with undergraduate and graduate students strongly preferred

Experience in the area of sexual violence education and response and demonstrated knowledge of the cultural and social causes of sexual violence, relationship violence, domestic violence, stalking, and other forms of gender-based violence

Understanding of reporting requirements related to external regulations  

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and sensitivity to the range of responses of survivors to sexual violence

Strong presentation skills

Ability to work with a wide-range of campus constituents, including students, staff, faculty, BC Police, on- and off-campus caregivers, and parents, as needed

Strong administrative skills, including recordkeeping, report writing, and documentation

Demonstrated understanding of Title IX, the federal Violence Against Women Act (VAWA), and regulatory agencies that inform sexual violence policy and work

Proven ability to handle sensitive and confidential information and situations with tact, care, and discretion

Ability to make independent decisions, particularly in the time of crisis
