Job Description
--- The Director of the Gender + Equality Center is responsible for the overall
leadership and administration of the Center. The mission of the OU Gender + Equality Center is to foster social justice by advocating for the rights of women and LGBTQ students, empowering those without a voice, and challenging inequality. The Gender + Equality
Center provides support and advocacy specific to LGBTQ students, survivors of sexual assault and gender-based violence, and all related issues; oversees the University of Oklahoma's mandated sexual misconduct prevention training; trains LGBTQ Allies to have
the awareness, knowledge, and skills to confront injustice and advocate for equality, while supporting all persons, regardless of perceived or actual sexual orientation, gender identity, or gender _expression_, who are experiencing discrimination; oversees Ally
2.0 training to meet the needs of those who have already been trained as an LGBTQ Ally and would like a deeper understanding of the issues faced by members of the LGBTQ community; and oversees Sexpert training on safer sex education. The Gender + Equality
Center oversees Advocate and LGBTQ programs on the Norman, HSC, and Tulsa campuses with office and staff on the Norman campus.
Job Requirements

Required Education: Bachelor Degree AND:
- 36-48 months progressive management experience & program development
Skills:
- Understanding and substantive knowledge of women’s and LGBTQ issues
- Experience working with women and/or LGBTQ community
- Ability to speak, read and write clear, concise English
- Basic computer skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
- Detail oriented for accuracy of data and information
- Able to communicate well and build rapport quickly with students, faculty and staff
- Strong initiative to solve problems
- Able to work well with interdepartmental teams and initiatives
- Must be able to understand the intersectional needs of a diverse student body
- Must be able to understand sensitive issues and handle with diplomacy and tact
- Must be highly organized and able to handle multiple projects and deadlines
- Must be able to supervise staff and communicate directions and expectations effectively
- Must be able to create and deliver effective training presentations
- Composition and proofreading skills
Certifications:
Advertised Physical Requirements:
- Able to communicate with others, able to engage in repetitive motions including movements of the hands, wrists, or fingers
Departmental Preferences:
- 24-36 months experience in crisis intervention, diversity including LGBTQ, and managing budgets
- Master's degree in Social Work, Human Relations or related area
- Licensed Social Worker or Licensed Professional Counselor
Supervision: 1-5 Staff
