The Assistant Director of the Women’s Center leads a comprehensive sexual violence education and prevention program for a diverse student body at Boston College. The Assistant Director serves as a supervisor and case coordinator to the Sexual Assault Network’s (SANet) hotline and in-person CARE Team services. SANet serves as the University’s primary point of contact for survivors of sexual misconduct, and thus the Assistant Director will also be responsible for providing crisis counseling, individual support, and assistance to students as part of SANet’s services.
Sexual misconduct encompasses sexual assault, relationship violence, stalking, domestic violence, and other behaviors of a sexual nature that occur without the consent of the recipient. The Assistant Director develops and implements inclusive evidence-based prevention and educational strategies designed to reduce sexual violence.
Full-Time Equivalent Hiring Range: $55,600 to $69,500; salary commensurate with relevant experience.Requirements
- Master’s Degree required
- Must be licensed or eligible for licensure in Massachusetts (LCSW)
- Independent licensure preferred (LICSW, LMHC)
- Supervision would be provided to support independent licensure
- Minimum of two to four years of experience providing direct services to survivors of sexual violence or crisis counseling or women’s health
- Experience in higher education, working directly with undergraduate and graduate students strongly preferred
- Experience in the area of sexual violence education and response and demonstrated knowledge of the cultural and social causes of sexual violence, relationship violence, domestic violence, stalking, and other forms of gender-based violence
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and sensitivity to the range of responses of survivors to sexual violence
- Strong presentation skills
- Ability to work with a wide-range of campus constituents, including students, staff, faculty, BC Police, on and off-campus caregivers, and parents, as needed
- Strong administrative skills, including recordkeeping, report writing, and documentation
- Demonstrated understanding of Title IX, the federal Violence Against Women Act (VAWA), and regulatory agencies that inform sexual violence policy and work
- Proven ability to handle sensitive information and situations with tact, care, and discretion
- Ability to make independent decisions, particularly in the time of crisis
