Dear Gillian,
Thank you for speaking up. I'd like to reiterate that nakedness and nudity have no correspondence to sexual misconduct including sexual assault. Masculinist dehumanization and objectification, the misogynistic porn industry, and administrations that support perpetrators of sexual harassment and assault rather than serving and protecting the student body as a whole are factors that prevention advocates can tend to effectively for much needed results.
Sincerely,
Genevieve

I was the Rape Prevention Education person at the University of California Santa Cruz for 30 years. The annual tradition of students running naked when the first rains came ( we are a Mediterranean climate...no rain in summer) was always welcome and never
caused a problem. As chance would have it, one year the first rain came during our orientation program with new students. Since it was near the end of the program and their gaze had shifted, we all had a laugh and agreed to cut the program short so they could
follow their gaze. Before they left I reminded them that the problem of rape does not lie with nakedness.
The culture on your campus may be different. I'd pay my attention to what media is accompanying the tradition. If it's misogynist, then attack that. Suggest alternatives.
Best,
Gillian
