I’ve used Green Dot, Step Up, and Bringing in the Bystander. I really like BITB. Without any offense to the other major curricula out there right now, I
think BITB has the best approach. I especially like the emphasis on engaging community members on their role in changing the everyday cultural norms that facilitate sex and gender-based discrimination, harassment, and violence. They certainly talk about engaging
in the moment when you see a concerning incident, but I really appreciate their emphasis on each person making their own spaces free of violence. They give you a couple different real case studies to use as well, which I really like as a way to bring the subject
matter home, especially for student athletes. The folks at Prevention Innovations have been great to work with, and I really liked their train the trainer event. I can’t say enough good about the program
and their staff. Jyl Shaffer Title IX Coordinator University of Cincinnati Office: (513) 556-3349 Edwards I Suite 3115 45 Corry Blvd Cincinnati OH 45221 Pronouns: she, her, hers From: Megan Elizabeth Selheim [mailto:]
Everyone, One of our student support programs has received a grant to train our campus to facilitate the Step Up bystander intervention curriculum across a range of areas of student concern (sexual assault, suicide, alcohol abuse, etc). We have also
been approached by some other in-state institutions who are facilitating a statewide Bringing In the Bystander training, and have invited us to participate. Frankly, I’m not sure about the direction to take. I’m looking for input from anyone who has experience with one of both of these curricula, regarding pros and cons. I appreciate any information!
