PACT Symposium – July 29-30, 2014

Office of Gender Violence Prevention and Intervention

Duke University Women's Center, Division of Student Affairs

PACT (Prevent. Act. Challenge. Teach.) is an interactive, student-facilitated training that prepares students to prevent and respond appropriately to all forms of gender violence.

[PACT was adapted from the Bringing in the Bystander program at the University of New Hampshire.]

This summer, Duke's Office of Gender Violence Prevention and Intervention is offering an opportunity for other campus professionals to learn more about PACT and Duke's prevention efforts. The goal of the Symposium is to offer guidance on using the PACT Curriculum and assessment materials, as appropriate to the needs of each campus.

When: July 29-30, 2014

Where: Duke University - Durham, North Carolina

Registration fee: $50

Register here: http://events.duke.edu/PACT2014

*Registration fee includes snack and lunch both days (Hotel and parking are not included.)

Data collected since 2011 demonstrates that PACT training increases students' pro-social intervention behaviors, reduces their acceptance of rape myths, and increases their likelihood of intervening with strangers and acquaintances as well as with friends.

Training topics will include:

  • Proactive intervention approach and theory
  • Employing the PACT curriculum and materials
  • Facilitation skills training for students
  • Engaging underrepresented and uninvolved students/groups
  • Recruiting, training and supervising student facilitators
  • Utilizing PACT assessment materials

For more information on PACT Training or the PACT Symposium, please contact Amy Cleckler at or 919-681-6231. If you are unable to attend but are interested in viewing and/or using our materials, please let us know!

*Apologies for cross-postings
