From: JimClark- Victim Rights Center of Connecticut [mailto:] I mostly lurk here, but I think this is a really bad idea for two reasons, one practical, and one cynical. 1. Practical: Many victims are going to mistrust a group that is so clearly a part of the University hierarchy as the Title IX coordinator. This could discourage seeking help. 2. Cynical: the victims have a good reason for the reservations in 1. above, because as some universities, the Title IX process has been used to discourage victims from pursuing discipline or criminal complaints to avoid bad press and Cleary Act reporting. --jim clark James G. Any feedback is appreciated Jenn |
