Call for Workshop Proposals

The New York State Coalition Against Sexual Assault is pleased to announce a Call for Workshop Proposals for our statewide conference.  Weaving a World Without Violence 2014 will be held June 3-4, 2014 in Troy, New York. In response to feedback we have received in the past, we are seeking extended length and advanced level workshops, though proposals that do not meet these suggestions will also be considered.  We are seeking workshops on a wide range of topics relating to sexual violence prevention and intervention.  In particular, we are interested in workshops that cover the following topics:

Coalition and Network Building and Maintenance for Prevention

Community Change Strategies and Mobilizing Communities to Prevent Violence

Building Organizational Prevention Capacity

Norms Changes

Evaluating Prevention Efforts: Designing evaluations to measure outcomes; Low-cost evaluation methods; Measuring behavior and attitude changes

Anti-Oppression and Intersectionality

Reducing Risk Factors for Potential Perpetrators of Sexual Violence

Building Protective Factors against Sexual Violence

Promoting Healthy Relationships

Cultural Competence

Empowerment Evaluation

Addressing Root Causes of Violence

Bystander Responsibility

Preventing Sexual Violence on Campus

Prevention with Special Populations

Engaging Males in Prevention

If you are an expert in one of these or a related field, if your organization has taken part in innovative work pertaining to one or more of these topics, or if you would like to share your experience that you believe would be relevant to our audience of sexual assault prevention and intervention service providers and other professional allies, we invite you to submit a proposal.

Level of workshop (advanced, intermediate, beginner)

     Learning objectives for workshop

     Outline for workshop

Workshop description/abstract (no more than 200 words please)
