Call for Workshop Proposals The New York State Coalition Against Sexual Assault is pleased to announce a Call for Workshop Proposals for our statewide conference. Weaving a World Without Violence 2014 will be held June 3-4, 2014 in Troy, New York. In response to feedback we have received in the past, we are seeking extended length and advanced level workshops, though proposals that do not meet these suggestions will also be considered. We are seeking workshops on a wide range of topics relating to sexual violence prevention and intervention. In particular, we are interested in workshops that cover the following topics: Coalition and Network Building and Maintenance for Prevention Community Change Strategies and Mobilizing Communities to Prevent Violence Building Organizational Prevention Capacity Norms Changes Evaluating Prevention Efforts: Designing evaluations to measure outcomes; Low-cost evaluation methods; Measuring behavior and attitude changes Anti-Oppression and Intersectionality Reducing Risk Factors for Potential Perpetrators of Sexual Violence Building Protective Factors against Sexual Violence Promoting Healthy Relationships Cultural Competence Empowerment Evaluation Addressing Root Causes of Violence Bystander Responsibility Preventing Sexual Violence on Campus Prevention with Special Populations Engaging Males in Prevention If you are an expert in one of these or a related field, if your organization has taken part in innovative work pertaining to one or more of these topics, or if you would like to share your experience that you believe would be relevant to our audience of sexual assault prevention and intervention service providers and other professional allies, we invite you to submit a proposal. Your workshop proposal should include: ● Name, address, email, and phone number for presenter ● Title of proposed workshop ● Length of workshop ● Intended audience for workshop (i.e., which group of professionals) ● Level of workshop (advanced, intermediate, beginner) ● Learning objectives for workshop ● Outline for workshop ● Workshop description/abstract (no more than 200 words please) ● Audiovisual needs ● Resume of presenter ● Compensation required for presentation (NYSCASA has extremely limited resources to pay for speakers) Send your workshop proposal no later than 3/3/14 to Elizabeth Isabelle, via email at: . Presenters whose workshops have been accepted will be notified via email by 4/1/14.
