UNIVERSITY OF SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA

The University

Founded in 1880, the University of Southern California (USC) is the oldest and largest private research university in the west. Approximately 30,000 undergraduate and graduate students enroll annually, including the largest number of international students in the United States. USC ranks in the top 1 percent of all colleges and universities in terms of selectivity, and boasts a student body among the most diverse of any American university. The university is made up of the Dornsife College of Letters, Arts, and Sciences and 17 professional schools.

The Center

The Center for Women and Men (CWM) is a resource, support, and referral center for gender based issues of harm and abuse. Housed within the Division of Student Affairs, the Center provides educational programming for women and men, advocacy, and confidential crisis intervention to members of the USC community.

Responsibilities

• Provide ongoing counseling and advocacy for individual students

• Programming and preventative education in collaboration with:

o Students/student groups

o Office of Wellness and Health Promotion

o Office of Residential Education

o Office for Fraternity and Sorority Leadership Development

o Student Counseling Services

o Other university offices/departments

 

• On-call crisis intervention and assistance

• Statistical reporting including Clery Act statistics

• Program development, maintenance and enhancement for: o MenCare Program

o Women’s Leadership Retreat

o Intersection Series

 

• Provide education and outreach on issues of gender based harm to university constituents

• Collaborate with the student organizations including Women’s Student Assembly and Take Back the Night and Clothesline Project committees.

• Representing the office on committees and at meetings

• Supervise office staff – An assistant director, a program assistant/clinician, and graduate interns

• Other projects and duties as assigned

 

Reports to

Senior Assistant Provost for Student Affairs, Support and Advocacy

Qualifications

• Experience in working as a counselor with gender related issues and problems.

• Master’s degree and a current license are required. LCSW, LMFT, Ph.D. in Psychology or Psy.D. required.

• Programming and supervisory experience desired.
