Dear SAPC colleagues, I hope all of your fall semesters are going well. I am writing this morning with another research-related request. I am working with the Victim Rights Law Center to write a grant proposal to develop a research and policy office for the
VRLC, and it would be very helpful to have support letters from those working with victims/survivors in education. Since there is no organization or association of which I am aware that represents campus/school-based victims’ services/advocacy offices, I
am writing you to ask for individual or office/organization support letters. If you are willing to write a letter, please email me and I can send you a sample letter that should make producing a support letter quick and easy. With apologies for the short notice, I would need the final letter of support from you
by noon, eastern time, on this Friday, November 1st. Here is some information about what we are proposing: The REVIVE Center will act as the research arm and Washington, DC office of the Victim Rights Law Center. The Center for Research on Ending Violence & Injury through Victim Empowerment (REVIVE Center) will conduct research on preventing
sexual and related forms of gender-based violence, will translate this research into policy-based solutions, and will disseminate the research and policy recommendations to practitioners and professionals working to respond to and prevent this violence.
Finally, it will provide research-based evidence for proposed legal or policy shifts at the national, state, local, community, and institutional levels. The REVIVE Center’s first research project will use research on individual attitudes and behaviors, as
well as assessments of community climate and readiness, to help schools and campuses better address sexual violence and other forms of gender-based violence occurring in their institutions and communities. This research will focus first on students and education
because of the institutional and legal factors that allow schools flexibility to experiment with new responses to this violence. As the Center develops, it will seek to expand into other areas in which the Victim Rights Law Center already provides direct
services and training. More information about this project is attached. Thank you for considering and feel free to contact me if you have any questions. Best, Nancy Nancy Chi Cantalupo Research Fellow, Victim Rights Law Center
